About this show: After years of looking, I finally found and own the song which inspired Dave Bartholomew's "The Monkey." When I interviewed Dave some years back he told me that it had been based on a poem. I don't know if he ever heard the original or just saw it written down. It is much more than a poem it is a calypso song from an era when they called it Mento music.
